Gaze Effect: Watch Face

Gaze Effect is an Android Experiment that offers a unique watch face experience. This watch face displays mysterious eyes that gaze back at you when you look at your watch. The more you look at your watch, the more the eyes on the watch face engage with you. However, if you don't check your watch for a while, the eyes start disappearing.

As the day progresses, the eyes on the watch face grow tired and move and blink less. There are also special times throughout the day when the eyes become especially eerie. The design of the watch face is inspired by Jacques Lacan's psychological term "Gaze," which explores the idea that we are objects being looked at, just like inanimate objects can be observed.

The Gaze Effect watch face is a quirky reference to self-awareness and our relationship with personal devices and time. It is part of Fathom Information Design's collection of watch faces, which includes other unique options like Coubertin Rings and Bouncing Isaac.

For more information about Gaze Effect, you can visit the Android Experiments website. The project is open source, and the code is available on GitHub.
